• Piacenza’s position compared with a territorial system of at least 10 provinces with a high intensity of industrial production
• the active promotion role in the transport economy sector, played by the Public Administration of Piacenza (Council, Province) and by some of the important local institutions, such as the Chamber of Commerce.

Within the fundamental constitutive elements of the Logistics Pole are included:

• the creation of IKEA’s Distribution Centre for Southern-Europe;
• the realisation of an intermodal terminal to a high working standard, promoted by PIACENZA INTERMODALE;
• the creation, promoted by PIACENZA INTERMODALE, of a Services Centre (offering Information as well as organisational, bureaucratic, telematic services etc) dedicated to Logistics;
• a fully-equipped Truck-Stop;
• a Tank Cleaning Centre;
• the first intermodal unit testing centre in Italy, and the most important in Europe.
